06/08: Cashier Scam - Check Your Receipt for Money Back
A consumer shopping at a supercenter thankfully recognized before walking out of the store, that the cashier had purposefully manipulated the transaction. The consumer went through a checkout lane and the cashier rang up the items. The cashier hurried the consumer along and did not provide a receipt. The consumer asked the cashier for a receipt and the cashier, albeit annoyed, handed it over. Upon reviewing the receipt, the consumer recognized that it indicated that the consumer asked for $20 cash back. However, the consumer did not ask for cash back.
If this occurs, the manager should be immediately alerted. All communications should be put in writing. This is a serious crime and the record should be preserved. The supercenter should undertake an investigation and a police report should be made so that the crime can be prosecuted. It is not enough that the transaction be canceled or the money returned.
